I have had it, truly and completely had it beyond anything I can express. I am going to try anyway. There is one thing I cannot stand and that is certain people lumping all of one group into a catagory; usually unflattering and always untrue. If I wrote an article calling all Muslims terrorists, all African Americans criminals, all men rapists or all women sluts, I don't have to guess what would happen. I would be suspended at least and kicked off the Vine at most. I should be, there is no doubt. Yet for some reason Christians are defamed, critizied, called awful names and basically the last group that it is politically correct to bash. This is utter B.S. and I am sick and tired of it every single day.
I am a Christian. Guess what? I don't care if you are are a Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Jew, Atheist or even a Satanist. IT IS YOUR CHOICE!
I am a Christian that is pro-Gay marraige, for seperation of church and state, open minded to new ideas and have no desire to push my beliefs on anyone, unless they ask me why I believe what I believe. I am moderate politically (fiscally conservative, socially liberal), I have a live and let live philosophy. It is each individuals choice to develop a value system. It took me years of study of all the worlds religions to decide what works for me and I respect your right to do the same. What I do not respect is the awful, horrible things I read on the Vine about Christians as if we have one mind. Believe me, that is so far from the truth. All I ask is people who lump all Christians into one group to take the time to discover the diversity of my faith.
I even abhor the word 'religion'. It is a man made set of rules that differ from denomination to denomination. I consider myself to be spiritual; a follower of Christ. For me, it was the only thing that made sense. God becoming man so that anyone who desires can find forgiveness. Forgiveness that I personally need, if you know my past. It was quite...let's just say nasty, crazy, illegal and torrid. I felt a need to be cleansed and I found it through Christ.
If I read some of the degrading things about other races, creeds, nations, value systems; I will be the first to say "back off, it is not your right to judge." In fact the Bible tells us not to judge the unbeliever, but to judge those Christians who do and say things that Christ said are not of God. There are many so called Christian leaders that are so wrong it's pathetic. Those who say 9/11 was because of the gltb community, those who say Katrina was a punishment from God, those who are so busy pointing the finger at those they disagree with that the miss "The plank in their eye."
I read a comment today that made me so angry. The comment said they are more afraid of Christians because we bomb abortion clinics, Federal buildings and murder doctors who perform abortions. He went on to say that 35% of Americans are Christians; lets do the math. 35% of some 350,000,000 people who claim Christianity is a hell of a lot of bombings and murders. In fact, those who murder or bomb are a miniscule fraction of that 35%, or we would have bombings and murders every single day. That is not the case, is it?
All I know is this; there are bad in good in every religion, profession, race, nation, sexual preference, gender and all people who identify with some group or another. Yet Christian bashing is the favorite pastime of many Newsvine contributors.
I want to know why? Why the title Christian is so imflammatory? When is the last time a Christian murdered someone you love? When is the last time a Christian blew up a Federal Building? Mc Vey was the farthest thing from a Christian I can think of.
The extreme radical Christian; such as Robertson, the late Falwell, LaHaye and others are squeaky wheels that get the press because of the outrageous and ridiculous claims they make. The great majority of us live our lives, keep our mouths shut and say, "you have the right to be who ever you choose to be and we love you for it."
Please stop. Please. It breaks my heart to be associated with those who claim to be Christians and act the exact opposite of what the true belief is; I know this because I am able to see the difference. I know you can as well. Ignore the radical extremists, they have a giant screw loose.
I think that the quiet Christians deserve the same politically correct treatment as every other group. If you are fair minded and open to allow individuals to choose their own path in life, then include people like me, because it truly breaks my heart to be lumped in with those who are dead wrong. I want to continue my participation on Newsvine. It stimulates my intellect and I do learn a great deal from others who offfer different perspectives. Nastiness has no place in mature debate. Remember, it's the principles that matter, the ideas; not the cruel personal attacks.
This Christian accepts your right to belief what you find to be the truth...please allow me the same right.

I covet your comments. I hope this article gets a great deal of play. Most of all, I hope those who read this will take some time to think and discover a new perspective.
